

You can import Adobe ® Photoshop ® (.psd) files and save SOLIDWORKS data (sketches, parts, assemblies, and drawings) as Adobe Photoshop files. SOLIDWORKS also supports the Adobe Illustrator Creative Cloud platform.

If you need to change your File Associations manually, follow these steps:ġ) In the Window’s Start menu, go to the Control Panel>Programs>Default ProgramsĢ) Click on “Set program access and computer defaults”ģ) Scroll down and select “Choose default apps by file type”Ĥ) Scroll to find the “.sldasm,” “.slddrw” and “.sldprt” file types and set the default application to “SOLIDWORKS Launcher.” SLDPRT files”Ĥ) Repeat step 3 for SolidWorks assembly and drawing filesĥ) Choose the version of SolidWorks you want to open the file inįor SolidWorks 2020 SP02 and Previous Versions:Ģ) Once open, go to System Options>File Explorer and click on “Restore File Associations”ģ) Follow steps 3, 4, and 5 from the 2020 SP03 instructions Right-click on the file and go to “Open with.” Scroll down to “Choose another app” and select “SolidWorks Launcher.” Make sure to check the box that states “Always use this app to open. Keep in mind, if you have installed SolidWorks 2020 SP03 or newer, restoring file associations is not in the same spot as previous versions. Instead of opening the files into a SolidWorks version that is incorrect, it will bring up the “SolidWorks Launcher” which allows you to choose which version of SolidWorks to open. By restoring file associations within the System Options, this can easily be fixed. However, with multiple versions of SolidWorks on a single computer, the file sometimes will not open in the version you want. SolidWorks files can be easily opened directly from Window’s Explorer.
